The South Caldwell High football team opened its season with a 28-0 win against West Caldwell at Spartans Stadium Friday night. But the Spartans, two-time

defending champions in the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference, lost their star running back and the All-State running back Zach Pollard.
Pollard left the game following his third carry of the game. He finished with 63 yards and a touchdown before he departed. He will undergo an MRI on Tuesday. Pollard, a senior, ran for more than 3,000 yards last season.
