WHS Tennis Falls, 5-4 PDF Print

The Watauga High girl's tennis team suffered its first loss of the year Thursday afteroon. The Pioneers (3-1) dropped a 5-4 decision to Pfafftown-Reagan in a non-conference match in Pfafftown, N.C. The Raiders won the match as Maddie Smith and Christina Kraft defeated Annika Davidson and Eleanor sprague 10-2 at No.3 doubles.
WHS got off to a fast start as Meredith and Meaghan Smith won both of their singles matches in straight sets. Meredith Smith defeated Montse Mesailes of the Raiders, 6-4, 6-4, at No.1 singles; Meaghan Smith won her match in straight sets as she knocked off Aja Grant, 6-2, 6-3, at No.2 singles.
But the Raiders came back by winning the next three matches to take a 3-2 lead. Davidson evened things up as she posted a 6-3, 6-4 win against Christina Kraft of the Raiders at No.6 singles. Reagan, however, regained the lead as Marsailes and AJa Grant posted a 10-2 win against Meredith Smith and Nicole Fox of the Pioneers at No.1 doubles. WHS tied things up as Meaghan Smith and Nicole Fox won their match at No.2 doubles by defeating Jessica Cooper and Emma Snow, 10-6.
But the Raiders pulled it out with their win at No.3 doubles. The Pioneers return home to play Lake Norman in a non-conference match at the WHS Tennis Courts next Thursday.
