Appalachian State University women’s golf released its fall schedule on Thursday. The fall schedule will
serve as preparation for the championship season in the spring. Sixth-year head coach Heather Brown will take her squad to three familiar tournaments - three of which the Apps competed in during the 2012 fall season.
The Mountaineers will start out the fall with a trip to Spartanburg, S.C. for an invitational hosted by Wofford. The tournament will fall on Sept. 9 and 10 and will be held at the Spartanburg Country Club – the team finished ninth out of 13 teams at the invite last year.
A week later, App State will travel to Waynesville, N.C. for a tournament on Sep. 16 and 17 hosted by Western Carolina at Waynesville Resort – the Mountaineers finished 11th out of 15 teams in 2012.
The Mountaineers will then go a month without competition until they travel to Hartford, Conn. on Oct. 21 and 22 for a tournament hosted by Quinnipac University. The tourney will be played at TPC Highlands – the same course that hosts the PGA Tour Travelers Championship.
The Apps will wrap up their fall season at Rock Hill Country Club in Rock Hill, S.C. with host Winthrop University. App State finished first out of eight teams in the tournament last fall. The Mountaineers shot 592 as a team and former Mountaineer Yue Xu led all individuals with a two-round total of 144 – shooting 72 in both rounds. The women's golf spring schedule will be released at a later date.
