The Watauga High girl's tennis team continued its hot pace by knocking off T.C. Roberson 7-2 on Wednesday in a non-conference match. The Pioneers (3-0), as they
did against Ashe County on Monday, put the match away by winning five of its six singles matches. Meredith Smith, Meaghan Smith, Nicole Fox and Kelsi Kanoy set the tone by winning their singles matches in straight sets.
Meredith Smith defeated Kat Windenwender in straight sets, 6-0, 6-2, at No.1 singles; Meaghan Smith won her match over Nicole Broffle in straight sets, 6-4, 6-2, at No.2 singles; Fox won her match by disposing of Maddie Brace, 6-4, 6-2; and Kanoy won her match at No.4 singles over Claire Weinrib of the Rams, 6-2, 6-4.
Annika Davidson put the match away by defeating Cara Jansen, 6-3, 7-5, at No. 6 singles. That effort gave WHS a 5-1 lead in the match.
Meredith Smith and Fox teamed up for a win at No.1 doubles, and Meaghan Smith and Kanoy won their match at No.2 doubles match to close things out. The Pioneers travel to Pfafftown-Reagan on Thursday.
