'Dad Make Four Errors, Lose Fourth Straight PDF Print

The Hickory Crawdads 3-game home stand came to a disappointing end Sunday night, as the 'Dads were held to only four hits while committing four errors en route to a 6-1 loss to the Augusta GreenJackets at Crawdads Stadium.
The game started with offensive action from both sides, with Augusta scoring a pair of runs in the top of the first before the 'Dads answered on a Joey Gallo RBI triple to center in the bottom of the frame to make the score 2-1.
GreenJackets starting pitcher Joe Kurrasch settled in to a groove following the Gallo hit however, with the 6'2" left-hander retiring the next 14 Crawdads in a row. That gave the 'Jackets offense time to pull away, with two runs in the fourth and two more in the seventh for their 6-1 lead.
The Hickory offense would never seriously threaten again, as the 'Dads mustered four total base runners after the first. Gallo led the Crawdads bats with his 1-4 night with an RBI triple. Nick Williams scored the 'Dads run after walking and stealing second as part of a 0-3 game. Shortstop Luis Marte finished with the only multi-hit game, going 2-3 with a pair of singles.
Crawdads starting pitcher John Niggli (0-1) took the loss while making his team debut, allowing four runs, two earned, on six hits over his six innings pitched. Kurrasch (5-0) earned the win with a dominant performance that included 12 strikeouts and one run allowed over 7 IP.
The 'Dads have an off-day on Monday before starting a 3-game series in Greensboro against the Grasshoppers Tuesday night at 7:00 pm.
