WHS Soccer Blasts Titans PDF Print

The Watauga High boy's soccer team waltzed its way to an easy win Wednesday night. The Pioneers

clobbered McDowell 8-1 in a non-conference game in Marion, N.C. The Pioneers have outscored their first two opponents 12-1 this season.
Tucker Chasteen was the hero Wednesday night as registered the first hat-trick of the season to pace the offense. Hunter Martin got things rolling with an unassisted goal at the eight-minute mark of the first half. Chasteen followed with his first tally of the night seven minutes later, and the rout was on.
WHS (2-0) led 4-0 at halftime. Martin and Justin Hall each had a goal and an assist. Canyon Mueller, Raul Fornoni, and Josh Lampkins each had a goal. Patrick Williamson, Logan Raichle, Jake Chasteen and Vincente Montelongo each had an assists.
The JV team (2-0) won its second game of the season by knocking off McDowell 2-0 Wednesday night. David King and Zach Valet scored the goals. King snapped a scoreless tie at the 65-minute mark of the first half. Sam Marlett picked up the assist. Valet added an insurance goal three minutes later off an assist by Powell Glidewell.
The Pioneers travel to Avery Friday night for a non-conference game. It will be a varsity-only match beginning at 6 p.m.
