The Watuaga High volleyball team knocked off North Surry in a marathon non-conference match

Tuesday night at Lentz-Eggers Gym in Boone, N.C.
The Pioneers (2-0) defeated the Greyhounds, 25-23, 23-25, 28-26, 25-23. Meredith Farthing led the way with 13 kills, 14 digs and three blocks; Rebecca Hayes had 13 kills and four blocks; Sierra Hill had seven kills and three blocks; Sarah Combs had 43 assists and four aces; Sarah Petersen had seven kills; Sydney Farthing chipped in with 20 digs and three aces.
The JV team (2-0) defeated North Surry, 2-0. WHS won 26-24, 25-18. Savannah Rusher had 13 assists; Olivia Williamson had eight kills and three blocks; Brynne Gould had six kills, four aces, and four digs; Taylor McCune finished with four kills and five digs.
