Former Watauga High Pioneer Ryder Jones has put together a very impressive

season with the Arizona Giants of the Arizona Rookie League.
Jones is batting .339 through 30 games with a home run, nine doubles, and 17 runs-batted-in. Jones, who transferred to WHS when his father, Billy, was named the new baseball coach at Appalachian State University in July of 2012, had a stellar senior year with the Pioneers.
He was named the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference Player of the Year, he was named all-state, he was the North Carolina Baseball Coaches Association Class 4A Player of the Year, and he was the North Carolina Gatorade Baseball Player of the Year.
Jones was taken by the San Francisco Giants in the second round of the Major League Baseball Draft on June 6.
