Hickory Crawdads OF Nick Williams has been named the South Atlantic League's Player of the Week for August 12 - 18th, his second such award this season. Williams also took home the designation for the week of April 15 - 21, the second week of the season.
Williams, 19, hit .400 (8-20) during the six-game span, while also picking up 4 doubles, 2 home runs, 3 RBI, 6 runs and 2 walks. The week was highlighted by the left-handed hitter's game against Asheville on August 15th, where he went 2-2 with a solo homer, a double, two walks and a stolen base in the Crawdads 4-1 win.
For the season, Williams is batting a team-best .305 with 17 home runs and 60 RBI. A 2nd round pick in 2012, Williams is also among the SAL leaders in batting average (7th), triples (1st, 11) and slugging percentage (2nd, .585).
William's award is the 6th time this season a Crawdads player has won a SAL weekly honor, joining teammates Tyler Smith (4/4 - 4/14), Alexander Claudio (4/15 - 4/21), Joey Gallo (6/10 - 6/16), and Ryan Rua (7/8 - 7/14).
