Chris Wallace, who led the Watauga High boy's lacrosse team for three years, has resigned as head coach. Wallace has relocated and is now living in Charlotte, N.C.

Wallace led the Pioneers for three years and a Conference 9 championship last spring.
The Pioneers lost to Pfafftown-Reagan 15-4 in opening-round of the state playoffs. Senior Nick Williams, who will attend Alderson-Broaddus College, a Division II school in Philippi, W.V., this fall to play lacrosse, paced WHS with a school-record 67 goals. He had 104 in his career.
Williams was named the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Conference 9 Player of the Year. He led the Pioneers to their first conference title and their first state playoff appearance. Williams was also second in the state with his 67 tallies. Wallace was named the Conference 9 Coach of the Year.

According to WHS Athletics Director Tom Wright, the school is currently searching for a new boy's lacrosse coach.
WHS senior Savannah Wood, a three-time state qualifler in girl's golf, has made a verbal commitment to attend Appalachian State University to play golf next fall. Wood finished 12th at the Class 4A state meet last fall; she was fourth as a sophomore and finished five shots off the lead with a two-day total of 154. Victoria Allred of Pfafftown-Reagan won the state title with a two-day score of 149.
The Pioneers also made their second appearance in school history at the state meet and finished tenth as a team. The WHS girl's golf team opens the season, Tuesday, September 10, hosting a meet at the Boone Golf Club.
