Hickory Crawdads All-Star infielder Ryan Rua has been promoted to the Frisco RoughRiders (AA), headlining three separate changes to the 'Dads roster on Thursday.
Rua, 23, had a breakout season with the Crawdads in 2013, leading the South Atlantic League in home runs (29), RBI (82) and extra base hits (54), while also ranking

among the league leaders in slugging percentage (3rd, .559), total bases (2nd, 205) and runs scored (5th, 70).

A 17th round selection in the 2011 June Draft, Rua put together a .251/.356/.559 slash line with Hickory, while also leading the 'Dads in hits (92), doubles (24), and OPS (.914).
The Crawdads also lost outfielders Jordan Akins and Hirotoshi Onaka, who were moved to Spokane (SS) and Arizona respectively. The 'Dads added RHP Paul Schwendel from the Myrtle Beach Pelicans (High-A) while third baseman Joey Gallo and outfielder Nick Williams were both activated off the disabled list to complete the Hickory roster.
Rua becomes the seventh Crawdad this season to advance in the Texas Rangers organization, joining fellow SAL All-Star Alexander Claudio on the RoughRiders roster.
