Wilkes Finishes Fifth At Regionals PDF Print

The Wilkes County All-Stars, representing North Carolina in the 12-and-under Southeast Regional Little League Softball Tournament, finished on a high note with an 8-0 victory over West Virginia on Sunday,

good for fifth place.
Lillie Anderson threw a complete-game no-hitter and racked up eight strikeouts against no walks to record the win. Anderson faced the minimum in all but two innings.
Lanie Miles backboned Anderson's effort by with a pair of hits, two runs scored and two runs-batted-in.
Sapphire Nichols, Lauren Anderson, Haylee Moore and Anderson all had two hits apiece. Nichols had a pair of inside-the-park home runs in Saturday's 8-4 win against Georgia. Wilkes lost to South Carolina 5-4 on Saturday night.
