The Wilkes County-Rutherfordton all-star game Wednesday at Freedom High in Morganton, N.C., had two locals officiating that game. Daniel Clark and Jim Godwin were the umpires in Wednesday's marathon that went four-hours and 22-minutes. Wilkes County, which blew an 18-9 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning, rallied to win, 20-19. Godwin, who graduated from Watauga High, was the home plate umprire. Godwin is an assistant principal at Hardin Park School and the middle school athletic director in the Watauga County School District. Clark was the infield umpire. Clark, who is also a WHS graduate, is currently a student at Appalachian State University. Clark, a regional official in football, basketball and baseball, was also served as the sports information director and a facilities coordinator at WHS.
Bobby Dunningan, another Watauga County native, was the booking agent for that game.
