The North Carolina Coaches Association East-West Senior All-Star Games took center stage Tuesday night at UNC-Greensboro. The East girls, thanks to an unassisted goal by Nancy Kirk of Jack Britt at the

67-minute mark of the second half saved the day as the East-West game ended in a 2-2 tie.
It's the seventh tie in the series, which the West leads 9-6-7. Last year's game ended in a 1-1 tie.
Jackie Nieradka (East Forsyth) paced the West with a goal and an assist. She scored on a penalty kick at the 20-minute mark of the first half; she had an assist on the West's go-ahead goal at the 62-minute mark of the second half. Rachel Cox (Greensboro-Grimsley) connected on that play to give the West a shortlived 2-1 lead. But Kirk tied things up five minutes later
Christina Gibbons (Raleigh-Cardinal Gibbons) scored for the East in the first half on a header ball from six-yards out. Caroline Brown (Raleigh-Broughton) picked up an assist on the play.
Macy Franklin of St. Stephens, who had 48 goals during a stellar senior year, and Caroline Holmes of the Indians played for the West. They were joined by Sarah Henson of Hickory. Holmes was a late addition. She replaced Brandi Arey of Cornelius-Hough, who dropped out.
In the boy's game, the East made it two in a row by knocking off the West, 2-1. The East, which leads the series 10-8-4, has won five of the last seven meetings. The West hasn't won since 2009. A.C. Reynolds coach Patrick Gladys led the West to a 4-1 win that year.
Owen Ryan (Durham School of the Arts) scored the game-winning goal last night at the 49-minute mark of the second half. Ryan scored unassisted off a volley from eight yards away. Jason Andrejchak (Concord-Robinson) gave the West a 1-0 lead with an unassisted goal at the 25-minute mark of the first half.
But Gage Novaria (Wake Forest-Heritage) tied things up with a goal just before halftime for the East. Conner Francis (Raleigh-Sanderson) picked up the assist on the play. The goal came with 54 seconds left in the first half. Conner Hartman of Hickory played for the West. Chandler Johnson of Newton-Conover was selected to play for the West, but dropped out.
