Appalachian State University athletics generated a record $4.3 million in private support during the 2012-13 fiscal year, senior associate athletics director Rick Beasley announced on Monday. The $4.3 million includes annual funding for premium seating, sport-specific fundraising and a record
$3,004,245 million in donations to the Yosef Club, which directly benefits scholarships for student-athletes.
The Yosef Club surpassed the $3 million mark for the first time due in large part a single-month-record $603,300 in donations in April. The single-month record came in the first full month after Appalachian State athletics announced that it accepted an invitation to join the Sun Belt Conference and NCAA Division I FBS on July 1, 2014.
“First and foremost, I would like to thank Mountaineer fans for their support,” Beasley said. “The excitement for the future continues to build and the support that excitement generates provides our student-athletes with the opportunity to enjoy the Championship Experience on and off the field.”
“I also congratulate the Yosef Club Advisory Board and president Terry Oliver for their leadership in reaching the impressive $3 million milestone. Thanks and congratulations are also in order for the Yosef Club staff of Gerald Adams, Kindsay Greene Reeder, Natalie Harkey, Leigh Morrow, Ginny Thompson, Sara Spain, Lauren Smith and Logan Hallock. Their timeless efforts each day were essential in reaching the $3 million goal.”
Appalachian faithful can still be part of the team! A gift of any size makes a difference in a student-athlete’s life. For more information or to join the Yosef Club online, visit GoASU.com/yosefclub.
