Appalachian State University women’s golfer Haley Zagoria (Atlanta, Ga./Georgia State) was one of 10 golfers to qualify for the U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship after shooting a 72 at Kiawah Island Golf Resort’s Cougar Point on Monday. A rising junior, Zagoria completed the event with an even-par score to earn a number five spot in the field of 102 golfers in the first of 18 qualifying events that will be held across the nation.
Zagoria joined the Mountaineers following one season at Georgia State and a successful high school run that included three consecutive all-state selections, a 4A state championship, and being named to the National high School Coaches Association Georgia National team. The U.S. Women’s Amateur Championship will be held at the Country Club of Charleston in Charleston, S.C. from August 5-11.
