It took only a matter of hours after the release of video stills from a Crime Stoppers alert on June 26th for Boone Police to make an arrest. With the Crimestoppers reports, Boone Police officers identified a suspect in the recently reported automobile break-ins in the area of ECR Software on Howard Street. Drake Alexander Caldwell, 20, of Boone, was interviewed and subsequently charged with two counts of Felony Breaking and Entering a Motor Vehicle.  Drake Caldwell was taken before a Watauga County Magistrate, where he was assigned a court date of July 29th and placed under a $3,000.00 secured bond. Chief of Police Dana Crawford said, “It is because of this video and the willingness of the public to help that this case was cleared so quickly.  This should also remind citizens and visitors alike to be sure to lock your vehicles when you leave them.”
