Williams Named to NCCSIA All-State Team PDF Print

Appalachian State men’s soccer defender Lee Williams has been named to the North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) 2012-13 University Division All-State men’s soccer team, announced on Tuesday.
Twenty players representing seven different North Carolina universities were named to the 2012-13 all-state teams, including Williams, who wrapped up his senior campaign having started all 19 contests to total a team-high 1,807 minutes, while recording a career-high 11 shots and leading the Mountaineers to their third consecutive Southern Conference semifinals appearance.
The Liverpool, England native known for his aggressive tackling and vocal leadership earned All-SoCon first team honors this season for the first time in his collegiate career and marking his third postseason selection in four years.
The NCCSIA All-State second team is comprised of High Point’s Kody Palmer, Austin Yearwood and Adam Sewell, Appalachian State’s Lee Williams, Gardner-Webb’s Jon Ole Reinhardsen, Elon’s Matt Wescoe and Daniel Lovitz, Charlotte’s Tyler Gibson and UNC Greensboro’s Hakan Ilhan.
Nominees were submitted by North Carolina sports information professionals and voted on by the NCCSIA members.
Founded in 2002, The North Carolina Collegiate Sports Information Association (NCCSIA) is comprised of sports information professionals from NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA and independent institutions from the state of North Carolina. The purpose of the organization is to promote collegiate athletics at all schools.
Appalachian State men’s soccer returns to action on August 18, when it hosts Lees-McRae in the first of three exhibition contests before opening regular-season competition against Marshall on August 30.
