Hickory Crawdads LHP Alexander Claudio has been named the Texas Rangers Minor League Reliever of the Month for the month of May. Claudio is the second Crawdad this year to take home a Rangers Minor League Award, joining teammate C.J. Edwards who won the Pitcher of the Month Award in April. Claudio, 21, did not allow an earned run over 16.2 innings of work in May, while registering 7 saves. The southpaw limited opposing South Atlantic League batters to a .161 average (9-56) and recorded 21 strikeouts against just one walk. Overall, the Puerto Rico native has gone 3-1 with a 1.22 ERA (6 ER/44.1 IP) and 11 saves over 23 relief appearances with the Crawdads. He has converted 11 of 15 save chances overall for the division-leading 'Dads, tied for 3rd in the SAL. Claudio, who is also one of six Crawdads on this year's SAL All-Star team, was selected in the 27th round of the 2010 June draft out of Isabel Flores High School in Puerto Rico.
