The Southern Conference announced several personnel moves Thursday, highlighted by Commissioner John Iamarino’s contract being extended three years.
Iamarino, who just completed his seventh year at the helm of the SoCon, had his contract extended through 2015-16 by the league’s presidents and chancellors, who voted on the matter at the league’s spring meetings in Hilton Head Island, S.C., last week.
Additionally, Jamie Severns was promoted to assistant commissioner for multimedia services. Severns has served as the SoCon’s director of multimedia services since July 2009. Stephanie Cushing, who served as the SoCon’s championships coordinator on an interim basis for the 2012-13 academic year, has been named the director of championships.
Jordan Gotfredson, who served as the multimedia services assistant in 2012-13, has been elevated to full-time status as assistant director of multimedia services. Erin O’Shea, the championships and compliance assistant in 2012-13, has been retained in that role for the 2013-14 academic year.
Finally, Sean Jones has been hired as the media relations assistant for 2013-14. Jones comes to the SoCon from Chattanooga, where he was an undergraduate assistant in the Mocs’ media relations office and served as managing editor of the Chattanooga student newspaper, The University Echo.
