Avalon Liscio (Naples, Fla.) and Haylee Leonard (Winston-Salem, N.C.) have

signed to attend Lees-McRae College and play women's volleyball in the fall of 2013, announced head coach Dave Schmidlin Thursday.
"I am excited that Avalon and Haylee have chosen to become a part of the Lees-McRae volleyball family," said Schmidlin. "They are great additions to our program. First and foremost, they are both outstanding in the classroom and come from great families. They are also athletic young ladies who have a very good understanding of the game and will contribute in their own way."
Avalon Liscio – Outside Hitter – 6-2 – Naples, Fla.
Liscio joins the Bobcats from Gulf Coast High School in Naples, Fla., where she garnered both all-area and all-county honors in each of the last three seasons. The 6-2 outside hitter was also named Gulf Coast's Offensive Player of the Year in 2010 and 2011; she also played club volleyball for USA South. Liscio is the daughter of Thomas and Sandra Liscio, and has one brother, Tommie, and two sisters, Lexi and Danielle.
"Avalon should be an impact player right away, both offensively and defensively," expressed Schmidlin. "She will provide us with a tremendous net presence at both pins. She has a good arm, sees the court well and puts up a big block. Her versatility to hit and block anywhere on the court will allow us to be more creative with our offensive and defensive schemes."
Haylee Leonard – Middle/Outside Hitter – 5-9 – Winston-Salem, N.C.
Leonard comes to Lees-McRae from Ledford Senior High School in Thomasville, N.C., where she earned all-conference honors during both her junior and senior seasons. A native of Winston-Salem, N.C., Leonard also played club volleyball for Tri County Ninjas. She is the daughter of Jeff and Dana Leonard, and has two sisters, Rachel and Madelyn.
"Haylee is an athletic player with a good all-around game," praised Schmidlin. "She can play middle, left and right side, so she will provide us with quality depth at every position. She is a raw player from a technical standpoint, but has the ability to become a key player for us as she continues to develop her game."
