He's only a sophomore, but running back Jave Jones of A.C. Reynolds High has received a scholarship offer from the University of North Carolina. Jones put

together a stellar campaign in 2012. He made his debut against Watauga on August 17 in a 51-20 blowout win. Jones ran for 84 yards and two touchdowns in that game.
He finished the season with 1,541 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns last fall for a Rockets team that was 9-3. The Rockets lost to Indian Trail-Porter Ridge in the second round of the Class 4A state playoffs.
Jones, who stands 5-foot-eight and weighs 180 pounds, averaged six yards a carry and 128 yards a game. He also caught 23 passes for 251 yards and two TD.
In addition to Jones, Reynolds is expected to return quarterback Levi Ledford (1,953 passing yards, 186 rushing yards, 26 combined touchdowns in 2012) as well as the following All-MAC selections from last season — wide receiver/punter Caelan Rhinehardt, linebacker Andrew Long and lineman Chance Towery.
Head coach Shane Laws of the Rockets has been named the head coach of the West all-stars in the East-West Senior All-Star Game in High Point, N.C., on July 24. South Caldwell coach Butch Carter will be an assistant coach for the West team.
ACR opens the season on the road against West Forsyth in Clemmons, N.C. The Titans are led by former WHS coach Adrian Snow.
