|Pioneers Snap Four-Game Slide|

The Watauga High gir's soccer team knocked off Mooresville 1-0 Tuesday night in the opening round of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Class 4A state playoffs at Jack Groce Stadium.
Hannah Younger scored the game's only goal at the 29-minute mark of the first half on a shot from 20-yards away. It's only the second goal WHS (9-8-3, and the No.1 seed from the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference) has scored two goals in its last four games. And both those goals belong to Younger.
The Pioneers will host either A.C. Reynolds (18-2-3), the No.2 seed from the Mountain Athletic 3A/4A Conference, or East Gaston (9-8), the No.2 seed from the MEGA 7 Conference, in a second-round game Friday or Saturday. ACR and East Gaston play each other tonight in Asheville.
In Class 3A, Hickory (13-1-4), the No.2 seed from the NW3A/4A Conference, plays at Tuscola (15-5), the No.2 seed from the Western North Carolina Conference tonight; St. Stephens (16-3-2), the No.1 seed from the NW3A/4A, entertains Forestview (9-7-2), the No.4 seed from the Big South Conference; Fred T. Foard (10-7-3), the No.3 seed from the NW3A/4A, travels to Franklin (16-0-1), the No.1 seed from the WNCC.
In Class 2A, Ashe County (14-3-1), the No.2 Mountain Valley 1A/2A Conference, entertains Randleman (16-2-1), the No.2 seed from the PAC-6, in West Jefferson tonight; in Class 1A, Avery (8-9), a wildcard team, will face Western Highlands 1A/2A Conference foe Hendersonville (16-3-2), the No.1 seed, in a first-round match tonight.
In Class 4A last night, Cornelius-Hough defeated Alexander Cental, 6-0.
