The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team (18-27) suffered a 5-1 setback to Limestone (20-19) Tuesday afternoon in a non-conference contest at Bob Prevatte Field.
Limestone's Chad Balderman (Irmo, S.C.) led the way with a game-high four hits while Avi Ahlzadeh (Dunwoody, Ga.) hit a solo home run to lead the Saints to the win.
Senior outfielder Logan Senelis-Jose (Saint Thomas, Virgin Islands) scored the lone run for the Bears in the top of the second inning but L-R was limited to just five hits in the loss.
In the fourth inning, Ahlzadeh tied the score at one with a solo home run to lead off the frame before Josh Greene (York, S.C.) drove in the game-winning run on a sacrifice bunt.
Balderman added an RBI double in the seventh inning while J.M. Spangler (Forest City, N.C.) improved to 2-0 after earning the win for Limestone.
Spangler pitched 5.2 innings of scoreless baseball in relief to go along with six strikeouts while L-R sophomore Travis McQueen (Richmond, Va.) (3-4) was credited with the loss.
McQueen scattered seven hits while giving up just two runs in five innings of work in addition to striking out three batters. McQueen also had a three-game winning streak snapped in the process.
David Martin was 1-4 in the loss. Lenoir-Rhyne hosts UNC Pembroke on Wednesday afternoon at Bears Field beginning at 4:00 p.m. Limestone, meanwhile, hosts Mount Olive on Friday evening at 6:00 p.m., in a Conference Carolinas contest.
