|L-R Softball Takes Two From Brevard|

The Lenoir-Rhyne Softball Team (26-11, 9-5) swept a doubleheader from Brevard (13-29, 3-13), 3-1 and 5-1, Saturday afternoon in South Atlantic Conference action on the road.
Game One - Lenoir-Rhyne 3, Brevard 1
L-R freshman Maryann Hoskins (Havelock, N.C.) (11-4) limited Brevard to just three hits while striking out three batters to lead the Bears to the win. Meanwhile, junior outfielder Jody Mizelle (Colerain, N.C.) broke a 1-1 tie with a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning in the victory as well.
Mizelle also scored on a sacrifice fly by Lenoir-Rhyne freshman shortstop Chelsey Long (Nakina, N.C.) in the third inning.
For Brevard, Kayla Clemens (Sebring, Fla.) hit a solo home run in the first inning but also fell to 4-12 on the year after suffering the loss.
Game Two - Lenoir-Rhyne 5, Brevard 1
L-R freshman Brandi Hole (Sandy Ridge, N.C.) went the distance and improved to 14-7 on the year in leading the Bears to the doubleheader sweep. Hole scattered nine hits to go along with three strikeouts in the victory. All five runs by the Bears were unearned as the Tornados were done in by five errors in the game.
L-R senior first baseman Jessica Fellmeth (Waxhaw, N.C.) and junior second baseman Ciera Cockerham (Yadkinville, N.C.) both drove in a run as well for the Bears. For Brevard, Heather Morris (Black Mountain, N.C.) connected on a run-scoring double in the sixth inning but Alyssa Miller (Davie, Fla.) fell to 3-6 after suffering the loss.
Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to host Lander in a doubleheader on Sunday beginning at 1:00 p.m., and will honor its seniors prior to the first contest. Brevard, meanwhile, plays Winston-Salem State on the road Wednesday in a doubleheader starting at 2:00 p.m.
