The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team (15-24, 9-12) split a South Atlantic Conference doubleheader with Mars Hill (9-22, 6-13) Saturday afternoon at Henderson Field. The Bears won the first game, 5-0, before the Lions took the nightcap, 6-4.

Game One - Lenoir-Rhyne 5, Mars Hill 0
L-R senior Clay Tresher (Matthews, N.C.) threw a three-hit shutout to lead the Bears to the win in the first contest of the day. Tresher also struck out four batters in improving to 4-1 on the year for Lenoir-Rhyne.
Senior first baseman Colton Hansley (Asheville, N.C.) opened the scoring for the Bears with a two-run single in the top of the first inning.
Hansley led Lenoir-Rhyne on offense in the game with a pair of hits and three runs batted in. Meanwhile, junior outfielder Brandon Walker (Otisville, N.Y.) added three hits and a run scored for the Bears, who registered their first shutout of the season.
Mars Hill's Caleb Edwards (Winston-Salem, N.C.) fell to 2-5 on the year after suffering the defeat.
Game Two - Mars Hill 6, Lenoir-Rhyne 4
The Lions broke a 1-1 tie with a four-run second inning after taking advantage of a pair of errors by the Bears to salvage the split. Mars Hill's Evan Rogers (Kernersville, N.C.) led off the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run and finished with a pair of hits and two runs scored.
L-R senior outfielder Logan Senelis-Jose (St. Thomas, Virgin Islands) connected on a two-run single in the top of the fourth to cut the margin to 5-3 but the Bears couldn't get any closer the rest of the way. For Lenoir-Rhyne, Hansley drove in two runs in the contest but senior Christian Hicks (Charlotte, N.C.) (1-4) was tagged with the loss.
Mars Hill's Josh Dean (Nederland, Texas) was credited with the win and improved to 1-4 on the year while Andy Runion (Sarasota, Fla.) registered the final out with two runners on for his first save of the season. David Martin was 1-3 with a run scored in game one; he was 1-4 in game two. Lenoir-Rhyne next plays Saint Augustine's in Raleigh, N.C., on Tuesday beginning at 3:00 p.m.
