|Bears' Track Breaks Several Records At Winthrop Invite|

The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams broke several school records this past weekend at the Winthrop Invitational which concluded Saturday at the Irwin Belk Track. Both the Lenoir-Rhyne men's and women's 1,600-meter relay teams established new programs marks on the day.
The men's squad - freshmen Nigel Donald (Charlotte, N.C.) and Casey Reid (Stanley, N.C.), sophomore Jarrod Spears (Bunnlevel, N.C.) and senior Justin McCombs (Newton, N.C.) - finished second with a school-record 3:19.17.
On the women's side, the 1,600-meter relay team of senior Elizabeth Chaffee (Winston-Salem, N.C.), redshirt freshman Kelsey Covert (Beaufort, S.C.), sophomore AnQuinette Crawford (Winston-Salem, N.C.) and freshman Vertrice Wilson (Carrollton, Ga.) ran a program-best 4:20.20.
In the men's 200-meter dash, McCombs (21.85) and senior Jamont Jones (Washington, N.C.) (22.00) finished fourth and fifth, respectively, for the Bears. Meanwhile, Lenoir-Rhyne placed third in the men's 400-meter relay event with a time of 41.70 and Spears took eighth place in the men's 100-meter dash (10.86).
Lenoir-Rhyne senior Samantha Levine (Wayne, N.J.) took seventh in the women's javelin throw with a 112'07" while freshman Kelly Etienne (Port Saint Lucie, Fla.) finished 11th overall in the men's 800-meter dash (2:02.30).
The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams will be in competition again on Friday, April 12, in the Appalachian Open in Boone, N.C. , on the campus of Appalachian State University.
