Nick Williams continued his torrid scoring pace with a pair of goals Friday night, but the Watauga High boy's lacrosse team came up short. Mount Tabor handed WHS (2-3) its third straight loss by beating the Pioneers 10-4 at Leigh wallace Memorial Field. Williams has 26 goals in five games. WHS trailed 1-0 before the Spartans scored four goals in the last three minutes of the second quarter for a 5-0 halftime lead.
"We're the kind of team that has to play the perfect game," said WHS coach Chris Wallace. "We can't afford to make mistakes, especially agianst the real good teams. And Mount Tabor is a really good team. But we played with them in the second half. But trailing by five goals at hafltime was too much to overcome."
Zach Williams scored twice for WHS. The Pioneers entertain West Forsyth at home on April 10.
