The Watauga High boy's lacrosse team suffered its second consecutive loss Thursday night. The Pioneers (2-2), who led 5-4 at halftime, dropped a 12-9 decision to Mooresville. Nick Williams paced WHS with six goals.
The WHS senior, who captured Athlete of the Week honors Thursday afternoon, now has 24 goals in just four games. He's averaging six goals an outing. But despite those numbers, Williams' effort couldn't save WHS Thursday night.
"We just broke down in the second half," said WHS coach Chris Wallace. "We played with them in the first half. We were solid, but we just fell apart in the second half. It's disappointing."
Canyon Meuller, Fred Siegmund and Dom Hamilton each had one goal apiece. The Pioneers host Mount Tabor tonight at Leigh Wallace Memorial Field. Game time has been moved up to 5:30 p.m.
