Williams, McRae, Davis Pace LMC at WFU Open PDF Print

Senior Brandon Williams (Raleigh, N.C.) and junior Michael Davis (Independence, Va.) each turned in an impressive performance in their signature events to pace the Lees-McRae College men's track and field team at the Wake Forest University Open on Friday afternoon.

Davis turned in perhaps the performance of the day for the Bobcats, finishing 22nd in the seeded section of the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:07.58. Gabriel Tobias (Lenoir, N.C.) and Jordan Meyer (Inman, S.C.) ran well in the unseeded 1,500-meter run, placing 45th and 48th, respectively.
Williams put together a strong showing in the 110-meter hurdles, finishing 23rd with a time of 15.67 seconds, while posting a mark of 11.49 seconds in the 100-meter dash. Joshua Soto (Aiken, S.C.) recorded the best time for the Bobcats in the 100-meter dash, crossing the line in 11.35 seconds, as Razhede Highsmith (Gastonia, N.C.) recorded a mark of 11.53 seconds.
Ian Harned (Pine Level, N.C.) posted the top performance for the Bobcats in the 400-meter dash, turning in a time of 51.41 seconds, as Jarrett Gibson (Marietta, Ga.) and Travis Burton (Newberry, S.C.) recorded marks of 52.30 and 53.43 seconds, respectively. Davante Scott (Hopkins, S.C.) crossed the line with a time of 55.43 seconds in the event.
Ryan Trask (Cobleskill, N.Y.) placed 32nd in the javelin with a mark of 40.88 meters, while Devan Mackey (Hickory, N.C.) finished 39th in the hammer throw with a toss of 30.54 meters.
In the women's meet, Persephanie McRae (Brooklyn, N.Y.) finished second in the high jump to lead the Lees-McRae College women's track and field team at the Wake Forest University Open on Friday.
McRae turned in the performance of the day for the Bobcats, finishing second in the unseeded section of the high jump with a mark of 1.58 meters. Kortnie Curry (Lexington, N.C.) posted an identical mark in the seeded section, placing 16th in a field of mostly NCAA Division I competitors.
Rachelle Cleveland (Moyock, N.C.) and Kayla Frazier (Chesterfield, S.C.) placed 34th and 38th, respectively, in the shot put. Jessica McEnaney (Cary, N.C.) paced the Bobcats in the 100-meter dash, posting a time of 13.40 seconds, as Sarah Monday (Lexington, N.C.) crossed the line in 13.50 seconds. Auburn Lowe (Swain County, N.C.) and Taryn Moorhead (Deer Park, Wash.) turned in marks of 14.03 and 14.10 seconds, respectively, in the event.
Lees-McRae returns to action on Saturday on the second day of the Wake Forest Open.
