No.9 Bentley Takes Down L-R In Women's Lacrosse PDF Print

The Bentley Women's Lacrosse Team (1-1) picked up an 18-7 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne (3-3) Friday morning at Barker Family Stadium. The Falcons entered the match ranked No. 9 in NCAA Division II.

Bentley's Jackie Brown (Brookfield, Conn.) led all scorers with four goals while Erin O'Connor (Longmeadow, Mass.) added three goals to lead the Falcons to the win. L-R sophomore Lauren Donovan (Hollywood, Md.) scored twice and senior Sarah Minick (Marietta, Ga.) added a goal and an assist but the Bears suffered their second straight defeat.
Lenoir-Rhyne trailed by a 6-5 score at halftime before Bentley with took control with six straight goals in the first six minutes of the second half and never looked back.
Bentley held the edge in shots taken (42-22) while Lenoir-Rhyne had a 20-17 advantage in ground balls.
The second half was the difference, however, as the Falcons outscored the Bears by a 12-2 count.
In goal, the Falcons' Ally Dorman (Simsbury, Conn.) earned the win after picking up 12 saves on the day while Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Allison Senft (Marietta, Ga.) took the loss despite making 12 saves as well.
Lenoir-Rhyne next hosts West Chester (Pa.) on Tuesday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., at Moretz Stadium. Bentley hosts Le Moyne on Sunday beginning at Noon.

 

Saint Leo Blasts Lenoir-Rhyne, 20-5

 

The Saint Leo Men's Lacrosse Team (6-2, 4-1) defeated Lenoir-Rhyne (4-4, 2-1), 20-5, in a Deep South Conference match Friday night at Moretz Stadium.
The Lions, winners of six straight matches, were led by Matt Obermeyer (Winter Springs, Fla.) with four goals while Robert Hutchinson (Islip Terrace, N.Y.) scored three times in the win.
L-R junior Tyler Kotch (Butler, Pa.) scored twice and junior Imari Davis (San Diego, Calif.) added a goal and two assists but the Bears saw their three-match winning streak come to an end.
The Lions took control early, scoring the first five matches of the contest and entering halftime with a 13-3 edge.
Chris Caiazza (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) added two goals and two assists for Saint Leo, who also held a 43-29 advantage in shots taken and a 27-24 edge in ground balls on the night.
Saint Leo's goalkeeper, Dave Moore (Lake Mary, Fla.), earned the win after picking up 10 saves in the contest while L-R junior Steven McGhee (Durham, N.C.) suffered the loss in goal.
McGhee totaled eight saves on the night but lost for the first time this year for the Bears.
Lenoir-Rhyne steps out of conference play to host Shorter on Sunday at Moretz Stadium beginning at 1:00 p.m. Saint Leo, meanwhile, returns home to host conference-foe Wingate next Saturday, March 23, at 1:00 p.m.
