When Dish Network Corp. announced in late January plans to close about 300 Blockbuster stores across the country, no list of stores was provided, officials saying that many of the stores would close at the end of their leases.  But even with a ‘for sale or lease’ sign in the window, the Boone location is one that store management says will not be closed, according to local management. The manager explained that the company is going to subdivide the building, with current plans to leave the video and game rentals in one part, renting other parts to one or more other tenants.  Action nationwide will cost about 3,000 employees their jobs, as company spokesman John Hall told The Denver Post in January that the closures will leave about 500 Blockbuster locations in the U.S. the 2013 action came after the firm shuttered about 500 underperforming Blockbuster locations in 2012. Hall said the closing stores are either underperforming or nearing the end of their leases. He also told the paper that the 3,000 employees were informed about the latest closures along with the announcements, but at that point, the store locations had not been announced.
