The Appalachian State University football team has eight games set on its upcoming 2013 schedule. The Mountaineers will open the season at Montana on Saturday, August 31, as Scott Satterfield makes his head-coaching debut against the Grizzlies. It will also be the first time since 1989 that Jerry Moore will not be on the sidelines coaching the Mountaineers.
The Mountaineers are also scheduled to play at The Citadel on Saturday, October 5, at home against Samford on October 12, at Furman October 19, Georgia Southern at home on October 26, Chattanooga at home on November 2, a road game at Georgia on November 9, and ASU will close out the regular season at home against Western Carolina on November 23.
The Mountaineers still have five open dates on the schedule, September 7-28, and November 16. However, one of those dates will be an open date when the 2013 schedule is finalized. Southern Conference opponents, Wofford College and Elon, like ASU, have not released their 2013 schedules. But Wofford is scheduled to open the season at Florida State on August 31.
