Lees McRae College women's lacrosse coach Ray Cameron made a solid debut has he led the Bobcats to a lopsided vicitory in their season opener on Sunday. Camerion initiated the girls lacrosse program at Watauga High before it became

a varsity sport in 2009-10. Katelin Rooney (Naples, Fla.) scored six goals, and freshman Jenah Tracy (Naples, Fla.) tallied eight assists in her collegiate debut to lead the Lees-McRae College women's lacrosse team to a 20-4 victory over Emmanuel College in the Bobcats' season opener on Saturday afternoon.
Four Lees-McRae (1-0) players scored at least three goals in the contest, as Rooney found the back of the net six times and Taylor Drake (Jupiter, Fla.) and Olivia Gudewich (Frederick, Md.) each added five goals. Tracy recorded a game-high eight assists, while Jessica Travers (Asheville, N.C.), Nicole Dupont (Fort Myers, Fla.), Rooney and Drake each chipped in a helper.
Senior Jessica MacConnell (Cary, N.C.) also tallied a hat trick with three goals, as Mia Emmerson (Orlando, Fla.) made 12 saves to earn the win in her collegiate debut.
Lees-McRae returns to action on Saturday, February 23 when the Bobcats travel to Charlotte, N.C. to take on Queens University of Charlotte in their Conference Carolinas opener at 1 p.m.
