The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball Team (1-4) picked up its first win of the 2013 season after splitting a doubleheader with Barton (1-1) Wednesday afternoon at

McCrary Park. L-R won the first game by a 5-3 score in eight innings before falling in the nightcap, 2-1.
In game one, L-R freshman pinch hitter David Martin (Boone, N.C.) hit a walk-off, two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning to lift the Bears to their first win of the season after being down by three runs.
Trailing by a 3-2 score in the bottom of the seventh inning, Lenoir-Rhyne senior shortstop Dalton Hall (Hickory, N.C.) came through with a run-scoring single to force the contest to extra innings.
Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Nick Flachofsky (Pfafftown, N.C.) (1-0) pitched two scoreless innings to earn the win while Barton's Duncan Everett (Greensboro, N.C.) (0-1) was tagged with the loss.
Junior outfielder Brandon Walker (Otisville, N.Y.) finished with two hits and a run-scoring triple in the bottom of the fifth inning in the victory for the Bears as well.
In game two, the Bulldogs' Christian Oliver (Gordonsville, Va.) (1-0) allowed just one hit over four scoreless innings of work to help Barton salvage the split and win its first game of the year. The
Barton opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning on a two-run home run by Collins Cuthrell (Rocky Mount, N.C.), the only runs the Bulldogs would need in the win.
L-R's run came in the top of the sixth inning on an RBI by senior outfielder Rai Robinson (Kings Mountain, N.C.) which scored junior second baseman Mike Gasque (Mebane, N.C.). Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Travis McQueen (Moseley, Va.) fell to 0-2 on the year after suffering the loss.
Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to face North Greenville at Bears Field on Friday. First pitch is set for 3:00 p.m. Barton, meanwhile, plays Catawba in Asheboro, N.C., on Friday at 4:00 p.m.
