A forged check incident investigated by Blowing Rock Police expanded to other agencies and landed a Georgia woman in the Catawba County Jail. Blowing Rock officer Anthony Biard responded to Tanger Outlets the evening of December 20th after an employee at Jockey discovered that a traveler’s check used to pay for merchandise was a fake. Officer Biards investigation found that counterfeit traveler’s checks had been used at half a dozen stores at Tanger to obtain hundreds of dollars in merchandise and cash. The checks had been passed by a black female using the alias Desaray Williams with a Nebraska drivers license.  Officers Biard was able to obtain a good description of the suspect and the vehicle and immediately gave that information to neighboring police agencies. That turned up that the same suspect used the same counterfeit checks to steal from a least one store at Boone Mall in Boone.  With the Blowing Rock information, the suspect was apprehended in Hickory later that evening, leading to Lt. Detective Angel Mahaffey driving to Hickory to interview the suspect. Mahaffey identified the suspect’s real identity as 26 year old Delora Renee Glasco of Atlanta Ga. Multiple felony warrants were obtained on Glasco for uttering forged instruments and obtaining property by false pretense, and Glasco was charged and held in the Catawba County Jail.
