Line Work Continues to Restore Power PDF Print

Overnight, linemen repaired a major outage in Watauga County affecting nearly 10,000 members when a tree fell around 11 p.m. on a power line serving primarily the Todd community.  Linemen also restored power to more than 5,500 Ashe County members affected since last night by falling trees.  Linemen also restored outages for 90 Alleghany County members also affected by high winds and fallen trees. Blue Ridge Electric reminds members that the fastest, most efficient way to report outages is by calling the cooperative’s PowerLine at 1-800-448-2383. The cooperative also reminds members not to report outages by calling 911. This ties up this emergency response number and may not get outages reported in the Blue Ridge Electric system. Always call a local Blue Ridge Electric office or the PowerLine number to report an outage. The public is reminded to stay far away from downed power lines, which can be extremely dangerous or even deadly. Report downed lines by calling any Blue Ridge Electric local office. For a live outage map, visit, where safety tips and other helpful information can also be found in the “Storm Room”.  Also check Blue Ridge Electric's Facebook page for updates at
