The North Carolina Division of Juvenile Justice reports that a juvenile in its custody placed at the Stonewall Jackson Youth Development Center has escaped today during a home visit in the area. The juvenile who escaped is identified as “James,” last initial “N.,” and was last seen Dec. 26th at 11:43 a.m. at 2204 Main Ave. NW in Hickory. The juvenile’s home county is Catawba County. The division has notified local law enforcement and is cooperating fully with the investigation. Due to the unpredictability of juvenile behavior during an escape, the division has a high degree of concern for the safety of both the juvenile and the public. The most recently taken photograph of the juvenile escapee is below. Members of the public should reports sightings of this juvenile to local law enforcement officials. For additional information, please contact Diana Kees with the Department of Public Safety’s Communications Office.
