Someone is targeting Sunglass Huts across the eastern states, and the Blowing Rock location at Shoppes of the Parkway yesterday became the latest in a series of brazen thefts over the past two weeks from Texas to Maryland. Blowing Rock Police were called to the local Sun Glass Hut at Tanger Outlets yesterday morning at 10:04 am. Police say store manager Shannon Taylor arrived to open the store and found that the store had been broken into, the door lock damaged and the store shelves completely empty. The value of the merchandise stolen has not yet been determined. Taylor reported to officers that another Sunglass Hut store in Smithfield, NC, also was targeted overnight, and that over the past 2 weeks, Sunglass Hut stores in Texas, Virginia and Maryland have also been hit in a similar fashion.  North Carolina State Bureau of Investigations was called by Blowing Rock Police to assist with crime scene processing while Blowing Rock Police officers are continuing the investigation. Anyone with any information about the crime, or who may have seen anything unusual at Tanger Outlets on the night of Wednesday November 28th, are encourage to call Blowing Rock Police at 828-295-5212 or High Country Crime Stoppers at 828-268-6959.
