Appalachian State University women's basketball travels to Virginia Tech for its first road contest of the season at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at Cassell Coliseum. The Mountaineers (1-0) are coming off an emphatic 91-54 win over Lees-McRae in

their season-opener while the Hokies (0-1) dropped a 55-35 decision to Old Dominion on Friday. A victory for Appalachian on Wednesday night would be its third win over an ACC opponent in as many seasons. The Apps downed Wake Forest two years ago and defeated NC State in the second round of the WNIT last season. Coverage begins at 6:30 p.m. on AM 1450, WATA.

• The Hokies went 4-9 in non-conference games last season including a 2-3 mark in non-conference games at Cassell Coliseum.

• Appalachian State is 4-11 all-time against Virginia Tech and has lost three-straight games to the Hokies dating back to the 1997-98 season.
• Wednesday's meeting marks the first between the two teams sine 1999, when the Hokies picked up a 75-55 home victory over the Apps.
• The Mountaineers defeated Virginia Tech in each of the first two meetings in the all-time series and went 3-1 in the first four games against the Hokies.
• Virginia Tech then reeled off seven-straight victories before Appalachian snapped the losing streak with a 67-58 win at home during the 1996-97 campaign.
• Appalachian State's largest margin of victory in the series came in a 16-point win (59-63) in the first meeting between the schools during the 1974-75 season.
• The Hokies largest margin of victory came via a 75-55 win when the teams last met on Nov. 30, 1999 in Blacksburg, Va.

• The Mountaineers return home for a 6 p.m. contest against Gardner-Webb on Tuesday night before heading to Greenville, N.C. during Thanksgiving weekend.
• Appalachian will square off against Campbell (Nov. 24) and Norfolk State (Nov. 25) before ending the month at Xavier (Nov. 30).
