L-R Women Drop Exhibition Game To James Madison PDF Print

The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Team suffered an 83-37 loss to James Madison, an NCAA Division I school, Saturday afternoon in an exhibition at the Convocation Center. Five players scored in double figures for the Dukes led by

Kirby Burkholder's (Bridgewater, Va.) 16 points and seven rebounds while Tarik Hislop (Silver Spring, Md.) added 14 points in the victory.
Precious Hall (Tallahassee, Fla.) chipped in with 11 points for James Madison, who raced to a 42-16 halftime lead and finished with a 51-29 advantage in rebounding. The Dukes also shot 53 percent (18-of-34) after intermission.
Lenoir-Rhyne was led by junior forward Whitney Brinkley (Asheville, N.C.) with a team-high nine points while senior forward Whitley Culler (Mount Airy, N.C.) added eight points and six rebounds in the loss. Sophomore guard Jazmine Charles (Lexington, N.C.) contributed with six points as well for the Bears.
L-R was limited to just 24 percent shooting (11-of-45) for the game while James Madison hit seven three-pointers and forced 25 turnovers in the contest.
Lenoir-Rhyne will open the 2012-13 season on Wednesday, November 14, against Limestone in Gaffney, S.C., beginning at 5:30 p.m. James Madison begins the year on Friday, November 9, at 7:00 p.m., against Virginia in Charlottesville, Va.
