Smith Falls At State In Straight Sets PDF Print

Meredith Smith of Watauga High was eliminated in the opening round of the Class 4A state tennis tournament at the Millbrook Exchange Park in Raleigh on Friday. Smith, who played No.1 singles and doubles for the Pioneers this season,

lost to Maggie Kane of Raleigh-Broughton in straight sets, 6-0, 6-0.
As a team, the Pioneers (15-1) won the Northwestern 3A/4A Conference championship, and made it to the second-round of the dual-team state playoffs. The Pioneers were eliminated by Pfafftown-Reagan 7-2 on Tuesday at the WHS Tennis Courts.
