Appalachian State University women’s soccer placed two on College Sports Madness’ Southern Conference All-Conference first team as senior defender Taylor Dunlap and sophomore forward

Julia Holz were named among the conference’s best, announced by College Sports Madness on Thursday.
Dunlap started her 74th career match on Wednesday, tying her for third-place for career starts in program history. With two victories in the SoCon championships, Dunlap could break the career matches started record set by Leigh Morrow with 76 from 2006-2009.
The three-year captain recorded her second goal of her career in the 3-0 victory over Wofford earlier this month and added an assist in a victory over Longwood in early September.
Holz leads the team in goals for the second straight season after netting eight this season. The sophomore is currently fourth in the league in goals and has scored in three of the last five matches. Holz has started 17 matches this season, tallying 47 shots.
Earlier this season, Holz became the first Mountaineer to be named SoCon Player of the Week since 2010 when she scored two goals and added an assist against UNC Asheville.
Holz and Dunlap look to lead the Mountaineers on Sunday, Oct. 28 as they host their first ever SoCon quarterfinal. Kickoff against No. 5 Elon is set for 2 p.m.
