Appalachian State University field hockey suffered an 8-1 loss to NorPac foe Libery tonight. The Flames took an early 1-0 lead over the Mountaineers when Abbey Bosom found the back of the net on a penalty corner. Liberty would take a

App State scored its lone goal of the match when senior Casey Lammando dished a pass across the circle to Amber Boot who fired a shot in front of the cage, bringing the Apps within one. Barr notched her second goal with just under three minutes left in the first half of the match, allowing Liberty to take the 3-1 lead into halftime.
The Flames added two more goals 15 minutes into the second half, extending its lead to four. Barr scored her fourth goal of the night and tenth of the season in the 61st minute as Liberty took a 6-1 lead over the Black and Gold. Liberty tacked on two more goals with under 10 minutes of play to take the 8-1 victory over Appalachian.
Senior goalkeeper Sarah Anderson suffered the loss in net playing just over 61 minutes with six saves, while Cristina Ceppi saw eight minutes of action in the cage. Boot led the way for the Apps as she scored one goal, while Emily Knapp and Caroline Phillips each put a shot on net.
