The Watauga High junior varsity football team has a short memory. That was evident Thursday night as the Pioneers (8-1 overall; 4-1 Northwestern 3A/4A Conference) knocked off Hibriten 20-0 at

Jack Groce Stadium in a NW3A/4A Conference game. The Pioneers put the game out of reach with a pair of touchdowns in the fourth quarter.
The Pioneers bounced back from their first loss of the year last week at South Caldwell. Defensively, the Pioneers were stout as they did not allow Hibriten to move the ball beyond the 38-yard line in the second half.
Austin Northern, who got the starting nod at quarterback with Aaron Dobbins moving up to varsity this week, put WHS on the board as he scored on a one-yard run with 57 seconds left in the first half. The Pioneers put the game away with a pair of TD in the fourth quarter. Zach Williams capped off an eight-play, 45-yard  drive with a one-yard touchdown run. He added the two-point conversion that basically put the game out of reach as WHS built a 14-0 lead with 2:04 left to play.
Anthony Deiters and Williams each had a quarterback sack on Hibriten's final drive of the game.
Dallas Trivette scored with 12 seconds left to close out the scoring. The Pioneers will wrap up the season next Thursday night at St. Stephens.
