Jackson recorded the 40th 300-yard passing game in Appalachian State history when he threw for 300 yards in the Sept. 1 season opener at East Carolina and on Sept. 22 at Chattanooga, became only the 13th 3,000-yard passer in school history when he topped the 3,000-yard mark in just the 11th start of his career. He was named the SoCon and national Offensive Player of the Week after amassing 325 yards of total offense (260 passing, 65 rushing) and accounting for three touchdowns (two passing, one rushing) in the Mountaineers’ 35-27 win over Montana on Sept. 8.
The monthly SoCon honor is the first of Jackson’s career. Jackson and the Mountaineers (3-2, 1-1 SoCon) return to conference play on Saturday when they host Elon (2-3, 0-2 SoCon) for homecoming at Kidd Brewer Stadium. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m.
