On the strength of his record-tying third 100-yard effort in as many games, Appalachian State University wide receiver Sean Price (Reston, Va./South Lakes) has been named the Southern Conference Freshman of the Week, the
league office announced on Monday. Price, a redshirt freshman from Reston, Va., caught eight passes for 128 yards and two touchdowns in Appalachian State’s 55-14 win over Coastal Carolina on Saturday. Price, who also topped 100 receiving yards in each of his first two games of the season, tied Appalachian’s all-time record with his third-straight 100-yard game. Brian Quick (2011), DaVon Fowlkes (2004) and Bob Agle (1968) are the only other Mountaineers with three-consecutive 100-yard receiving games.
MOUNTAINEERS MOVE UP TWO SPOTS IN POLLS: After a dominating performance on both sides of the ball in the 41-point win over Coastal Carolina, Appalachian State moved up two spots in both major NCAA Division I FCS top 25 polls this week. The Mountaineers come in at No. 15 in The Sports Network’s media poll and No. 14 in the American Football Coaches Association rankings.
TAILGATE OF THE WEEK CONTEST SUBMISSION DEADLINE IS WEDNESDAY: The Appalachian State Football Tailgate of the Game contest, presented by G&B and Appalachian Energy, for this Saturday’s homecoming dual versus Elon is open now through Wednesday. Fans are encouraged to submit pictures of their tailgate party to
anytime up until Wednesday’s noon deadline. A winner will be selected and invited to bring their tailgate party to Kidd Brewer Stadium’s premier tailgating spot — right outside the Echota west gate next to David Jackson and the Appalachian IMG Sports Network Pigskin Prelude broadcast crew.
