Two Homes Damaged in Ashe Fires PDF Print

Fire gutted an Ashe County home Sunday afternoon, a call answered by Pond Mountain and Creston Fire Departments.  The call came in as owner Steven Jones was returning from a neighbor’s home and found the single-wide mobile home on fire, causing a call for the fire departments. In spite of the effort of the two departments, the interior of the home was said to have been gutted by the fire, and probably was a total loss.  So far, no cause has been determined for the blaze, but Ashe County Emergency Management said that Jones had insurance and family in the area to help with his immediate needs.
Fleetwood and West Jefferson were called out at about 7:15 Monday morning to a structure fire on Edwards Road off of Bald Mountain Road.  Firemen found fire in the wall of the structure and called for infrared sensors to help find the source.
