Appalachian State University women’s tennis head coach Colin Crothers announced the 2013 spring schedule on Monday, as the Mountaineers look to improve on their 13-win season from a season ago.
“This is one of the most demanding schedule we have played, with very few easy matches,” Crothers said. “I believe

this will get us ready for Southern Conference play.”
The Apps have shined during the fall season, finishing with a 23-4 singles record at the Liberty Tournament two weeks ago against  opponents the Mountaineers fell to in last season. Appalachian will look to continue its winning ways with two remaining fall tournaments before moving into its spring schedule in January.
App State opens the season with two non-conference tests against North Carolina A&T on Jan. 18 and East Carolina on Jan. 19. After the showdown with the Pirates, the Apps travel to White Sulphur Springs, W.Va. for three neutral site matches against George Mason, James Madison and Liberty on Feb. 2-3.
A week later, the Mountaineers open their home slate against Radford on Feb. 9 and North Carolina Central on Feb. 17. Both matches will be played at the Yonahlossee Club. Appalachian hits the road once again for a non-conference match against Charlotte on Feb. 18, before returning home for a showdown with ETSU on Feb. 23. That match will be the last at the Yonahlossee Club. App State will move their remaining home matches to the ASU Tennis Courts.
The Mountaineers meet Presbyterian College a day later on the 24th in Clinton, S.C. before beginning their conference schedule at home against Chattanooga on March 1. Appalachian will play back-to-back SoCon matches when they travel to Samford on March 3.
The Apps then move into their spring break road trip, facing Gardner-Webb, UNC Wilmington and Campbell in consecutive days, starting on March 13. Appalachian returns home for four-straight conference matches at home when Georgia Southern comes to Boone on March 17. The Mountaineers face College of Charleston on March 24, Furman on March 27 and Wofford on March 30.
Two days later, App State rounds out its conference schedule will four straight road matches, highlighted by the regular season finale at Elon, where the Southern Conference Championships.
