ASU Field Hockey Falls To No.13 Wake Forest PDF Print

Appalachian State University field hockey fell to No. 13 Wake Forest 8-0 on Friday, snapping its two-game win streak.
The Mountaineers fell behind 2-0 early in the match when the Demon Deacons scored two quick goals just eight

minutes into the first half. Wake Forest would strike again with two quick goals just ten minutes later when they scored their third goal at the 18:54 mark and extended their lead to four at the 20:15 mark of the first half. The Demon Deacon's Lizzie Rae scored her second goal of the match with just under two minutes left in the half, giving Wake Forest the 5-0 lead going into half time.
Rae picked up a hat trick three and a half minutes into the second half, before Taylor Rhea scored her second goal of the season, allowing Wake Forest to take the 7-0 advantage. The Demon Deacons netted their final goal of the match with just under a minute to play, taking the 8-0 victory over the Apps.
Appalachian State's Lindsay Amador had three shots with one on goal, while Dana Wetmore had one shot.
With the loss the Mountaineers fall to 2-4 overall on the season, while Wake Forest improves to 3-3 overall on the season,
Appalachian State will be back in action on Sunday, Sept. 16 when they travel to Davidson take on VCU in the neutral site match. The match is slated for 3:30 p.m.
